I love the theme and flavor presented in this game. However, upon a few playthroughs, serious problems arise.
1) The spell Negative Bolt, which is given for free to every necromancer, is clearly the best thing to do almost every turn. For example, a buff spell with the same casting cost can give three additional dice on a melee attack. Negative Bolt can do up to 16 damage and recoup its casting cost. Why wouldn't I do that?
2) Every scenario has, as its win condition, destroying your opponents. This is uninteresting.
3) Your minions die at a far, far greater rate than you can replace them.
4) There are multiple unclear or contradictory wordings throughout the rulebook.
It really seems like the guys were onto something. I am hoping for a second edition at some point which addresses these and other issues and makes the game more playable.
