This early offering from LZW fits the pattern of their other low-numbered ground sets: fifteen 6" square tiles with identical backgrounds and varying pathways of a different material. The early sets featured fairly cookie-cutter geometries, with exactly the same layouts populating the various sets, which differed only in the materials used. In this set, the background “material” is clouds, and the foreground material is hard rock. The visual effect is actually very appealing (+1 star for that), but the geometries are very artificial and don’t really feel like a “mountain” at all. You could still use this for artificial stone structures that soar above the clouds, however.

It's not too frequently your adventurers will be wandering upon high cliffs on the top of cold mountains, but, if they are, here's the set for them. The tiles are rather nicely photoshopped, and a less expensive alternative to a "dead tree" set of tiles from the FLGS (if such tiles exist!).

This is a set of terrain tiles (6"x6") consisting of what appears to be narrow, rocky pathways that drop off to clouds far below. The actual tiles look like they are photoshopped pictures, so they have a great deal of detail to them, and the 1" grid is present but unobtrusive.

What the set unfortunately lacks is any impression of elevation differences - for a set of mountain terrain tiles, I would expect to see tiles with cliffs going upwards, in addition to the narrow ridges surrounded by clouds that this set provides. The ground in the tiles is very square: everything is at 90° angles, with no curves or diagonals in sight.

If you need the type of terrain in this pack, it's quick and cheap, but the idea has a lot of unrealized potential.
