Really impressed with the 3rd Edition. I bought the first two editions and followed the Galaxies conversations, so I've been waiting for this a long time. It's worth the wait. I'm playing through the solitaire After the Fall scenario as I learn the new rules, and the game flows really well. Very clear and quick, but there's still great depth. Looking forward to the expansions. Great work!

Enjoying the Third Edition of VBAM and greatly pleased to see new editions in the works. Currently working my way through the Solo Campaign "After the Fall". Good solid product. I have the previous versions and all the add-ons. The mechanics and systems are much cleaner in this reworked version. I like that you have modified the Space Combat flow so it is much clearer and very well explained. I approve of the changes with the Command Rating, simplified maintenance, addition of campaign scenarios, and new Harbinger Campaign setting. Love the aesthetics on layout and art. The Alien Empires are varied and cool. Haven't delved into the Diplomacy aspects but looks better than before. Looking forward to designing my own fleets in upcoming releases. Thanks for the effort, Well done.

Rear-Admiral of the Terran Union Fleet.

PS: Just noticed Tyrel posted a very comprehensive listing of the major changes...all are for the better in my opinion.

Thanks for the review, David! We ended up going back to basics with 3E, stripping the game back to absolute bedrock and then rebuilding it a piece at a time to determine what should stay, what should go, and get a better handle on what might have been missing from the earlier versions of the game. The goal was to keep the core game play intact but eliminate a lot of the micro-management and busywork (or at least as much as we possibly could!). We also held off releasing 3E until we had enough time to work through a lot of the expansion content to try and avoid any unexpected "gottchas" when it comes time to expand the game in new directions in the supplements.
