RAF Bomber Command: Wellington
by Brian F. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/25/2024 17:09:41

Like this, seems a well thought out game and while looks daunting, very easy to follow. Very nice artwork quality too. Plays much like Target For Tonight from what I've seen of that game, I don't have TFT and can't find it plus here (Australia) it was very expensive, so I am happy to have this game instead. Looking forward to getting some of the add-ons, namely Halifax and Lancaster.

I recently discovered this series of games from Joe Carter and they are excellent -- detailed but clear to navigate, creative and fun, perfect for the solitaire player in particular. Thank you, Joe!

The Golden Age of Piracy: 1718
by Erich C. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 12/04/2022 07:11:26

Just an amazing piece of work.

The level of detail and passion put behind this game really showcases Joe Carter's system at its best.

Its an easy game to get it running right away but full of decisions that will entertain you for hours on end...

I started with Tank Commander: Ardennes (such an awesome game) and now with The Golden Age of Piracy: 1718, I feel I have a great grasp of this wonderful system.

And...its a great bang for your buck for sure!

Battles: Vietnam

I'm so pleased i found this series of games. The others being Battles:Medieval , Battles South Pacific and the newly released Battles:North Africa. If ,like me, you dont really have the time or desire to read and memorize a 200 page game manual then this game is for you.It really is a follow the tables in sequence game.It offers massive replayablility due to logical random setup of enemy and battle map/objective.It is a squad based game and you have a team of six to kit out and give skill points to initially.Between battles ,in a campaign ,you can aquire addtional battle points depending on the outcome. I particularly like the random naming system of your squad. You do actually become attached to your team members as they have a name! My initial play through was alot longer than expected but thats just me,because i like to really make sure im playing correctly. It becomes much more fluid and intuitive as you progress through either the short or long campaign. You also get a feeling about whether a dice role will hit etc without flicking through the modifiers table, the more you play.So this saves time and adds to the flow of the game.Tactically there is great scope and you do need to consider your tactics and not procede gung ho! I found out the hard way and sadly lost my squad leader.A big mistake!Carefully timed airstrikes, smoke and even retreat are relevant. The AI is good and all in all the battles are very satisfying in a Vietnam kind of way.Lots of weapons to choose from and certain weapons/ammo can be aquired from enemy KIA.I like this gameplay system.Hardley any rules to remember. The other games follow the same the same structure of table play but obviously much different weapons and tactics of course.(i bought the lot i was so impressed!)Highly recommend this Vietnam game especially to fellow wargamers like me who want to play ....not spend a week reading and memorizing. Also the author has a Facebook group where any questions can be answered.
