There are a lot of zombie games out there, but they tend to focus on human-vrs-human violence with the zombies as an afterthought, or one-off battles with the undead, usually in a dense urban setting.

County Road Z is unique because it returns the focus to survival and cooperation against the zombie menace in a rural area. That means building a base for your survivors, staffing your kitchen and infirmary, building up some working vehicles, etc. Then, when you do go out to battle the hordes, it's for a purpose; you need food, medicine, supplies to improve your base, and of course, rescuing stray survivors. Because, in County Road Z, other people are a vital resource, not always a rival gang to fight.

An excellent solo game. Very story driven. If you enjoy games that involve a great deal of story development and, cant live without a good zombie game then this is the game for you.

If you enjoy The Silver Bayonet, Five Parsecs from Home or similar campaign style co-op & solo skirmish miniature wargames you will have an absolute blast playing County Road Z!

Recently got this game and I am really enjoying it. I'm also a big fan of Last Days but this game is a better solo game. The game is fairly quick with an awesome basebase

As a massive fan of the State of Decay 2 video game, I've long craved a tabletop version of it so I could make use of all my modern horror miniatures and terrain. I enjoy games like Walking Dead: All Out War and Last Days, but those games don't offer the compelling solo/cooperative experience I was looking for.

County Road Z accomplishes pretty much everything I want out of a modern survival horror skirmish game with some light RPG elements.

Zombie activation is elegantly thematic and survivors are fun to create, manage, and take on missions.

The depth this game offers comes in the community management aspect, where you have to manage your resources, build up your base, and determine your ovearching goals for the next mission. And the missions are very well written and thought out.

Overall, just a terrifc book and I can't wait for some more content. Keep up the great work!

I’m not exactly the most elegant speaker/writer so I’ll try to be clear on why this game FREAKING ROCKS!

I enjoy the premise. Human vs. Zombie. It’s a classic for a reason and I think this system is the Adventure Wargame I needed to fit that niche.

I enjoy the system. It uses d10’s for deployment, skills, loot, etc. The system itself appears to be made to be fast and fun without all the little fiddly bits that can cause a player to stop the game and look up a rule. That being said the author added “complications” or ways to make the game harder. But even the complications do not add rules that make you stop and look at charts. And personally, I enjoy the variety of gameplay the complications add.

The skills and gear are concise enough to be clear but vague enough so the role-player in me can add my own little flourishes and bring the Survivors/missions to life. The Settlement system is reminiscent of State of Decay. The missions range from grabbing supplies to Survivor focused story missions that add depth and personality to Survivors.

If you enjoy Zombies and are looking for a fun yet deep Adventure Wargame I highly recommend County Road Z.
