Naval Thunder: Bitter Rivals

WW2 Expansion

Naval Thunder: Bitter Rivals is a huge expansion of the Battleship Row WW2 naval combat core rules with over 130 new classes of ship representing the fleets of Britain, Germany, France, and Italy as well as data cards for merchants and transports for use in convoy games.  Special nationality-specific rules represent the unique character of each fleet.

Also included are 13 carefully researched historical scenarios featuring many of the most important naval battles of the war from the Atlantic, Pacific, and Mediterranean theaters.  Scenarios range in size from small cruiser actions to huge fleet engagements.  Each scenario includes a complete order of battle, deployment map, victory conditions, overview, and historical outcome.

A half dozen new special scenario rules, including minefields, shore batteries, mechanical breakdowns, and more, allow you to confront the same challenges faced by the historical commanders.

The flash preview below will let you page through the rules & scenario portions of the book to see the exciting content it includes.  Ship data cards are included with the purchase but do not appear in the preview.

Requires Battleship Row core rules to play.

I'm enthused by how easy you've made it to select ships for a battle and print their cards! Just my first quick sweep of the available cards, though, shows the British "D" class cruisers (8, including Danae, Dragon, Dunedin, etc) are missing. Any chance of getting their data?

Hello - I've just purchased this and the file "Rivals_-_Rules" is corrupt and won't open. Done 2 downloads and the same each time. Using the up to date Adobe PDF Reader.
Can you please fix?

Hi, I've downloaded the file from different computers. It downloads and opens just fine each time. Have you contacted Wargame Vault? I think you must have some problem specific to your machine.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
