Goobs is a one page cooperative skirmish wargame designed for children and families. It uses playing cards as its main engine. Enemies should be candy and eaten when defeated!!

*The group needs:

Some miniatures or large jelly beans for Goobs,

Trash (Cans and Boxes) or terran

Pencils & Paper

Beads

*Each player needs:

A standard 52 playing card deck (All cards should be the same size).

A cool miniature or ~1” tall toy.

*Sample Rules:
Turn Order: 1 Player goes, then the Goobs go, then another player goes, then the Goobs. The youngest player goes first, then play precedes to the left.

Your turn: 1 move, 1 attack, in any order.

Move: Discard up to 2 cards from the top of your deck. You move a distance equal to or less than the length of the cards discarded. You may not move through terrain.

Attack: Choose up to 3 Goobs that your character can see within 1 card length of each other Goob chosen. Draw up to 5 cards off the top of your deck. If the number of red cards is equal to or greater than the number of Goobs, you succeed and remove each chosen Goob from play. Otherwise the attack fails. Eitherway, discard these cards.

Goobs Turn: Each Goob moves 1 card length towards the closest player character. If they start their turn within a card length of a player character, they move to touch that character. Then that player must defend.

Defend: One at a time, discard cards off the top of your deck until you discard a red card.

Exhaustion and Losing: If you run out of cards in your deck, you are exhausted. You skip your turn and Goobs no longer chase you. If all characters run out of cards, the players lose. (Hard Mode: Lose all Goobcores on Exhaustion)

*Sample Powers:

#Hero-Don’t remove 10 cards during setup.

#Analyst-Choose the 10 cards you remove during setup.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
