Clash on the Fringe Revised is a revamped version of Nordic Weasel Games' original Unified Space skirmish rules. Based around platoon level scifi warfare, the game includes profiles and points values for a wide range of sci-fi archetypes like proud alien warriors and killer robots. 19 "races" in total ranging from human sub-types to robots to alien critters. 

Game rules are provided for everything from hover tanks to psionics, along with a selection of scenario rules to build fun encounters. 

While intended for head to head play, solo guidelines and decision tables are included. 

As is a simple campaign upgrade system.

And a  scenario generator with 5 different objectives to pursue.

The game rules remain state of the art with alternate activations and 5 different unit orders. Combat is deadly and energetic with many weapons producing areas of effect, forcing soldiers to actually disperse realistically. Troops must contend with not only casualties but being pinned down or demoralized by fire. Meanwhile talented leaders can compel their troops to greater efforts and heroes can turn the tide of battle if deployed well.

All combat dice are D10s and troops have 5 characteristics to keep track of. The points system not only covers all of the troops and weapons in the book, but includes a formula to calculate your own units (or modify the existing ones). 

All in all, this is a lot of game and is intended to be complete in a single book.

This Revised edition has been tweaked by Jason Smith, streamlining a few awkward mechanics and giving the game a brand new, 21st century facelift with full color miniatures photography from his exquisite collection of science fiction figures, as well as brand new layout taking the game into present day.

These rules are based loosely in the Unified Space setting, though it is NOT directly compatible with Five Parsecs From Home or other rules set within this game setting.
