Finger and Toe Models announce its latest release: SCI-BLOCKS, the science fiction terrain building set.

SCI-BLOCKS are stackable, and the set includes brackets to keep the stacks from shifting when your friends bump them.  Included are:
•    six, four, and two 6 inch squares,
•    two by four and two by six,
•    a two by four inch ramp–all one inch high,
•    three walkways (two, four, and six inch spans) that fit onto the blocks,
•    hexagonal shipping containers,
•    oil drum,
•    pipe segments,
•    a barricade,
•    and two specially designed objective markers.

Visit Finger and Toe’s new blog at for more detailed pictures and a discussion of their use.

A special note for those of us with younger gamer friends and family: this is the perfect set to get them started in modeling.  The pieces assemble quickly and easily, and work like building blocks.  The two largest blocks have internal braces so they won’t sag under heavier metal miniatures.  You might need to help with those.  They’re also perfect with little green army men–and if a block gets smooshed by little fingers playing like little fingers do, print another and have fun together.

Really interesting and clever little building blocks. They're fun to build and help break up a plain table and add a very industrial sci-fi look. My complaints with the set are: 1) It's not clear how the stacking brackets are supposed to be used. There [...]

This is a set of building blocks that can be used to create sci-fi themed pieces from small blocks to large models connected with bridges. The basic blocks are really easy to build, making them appealing to beginning paper modelers. Among other uses, [...]

Another excellent set from Finger and Toe! This set is very versatile and I plan to use this over a number of different campaigns, so the value is extremely high. I purchased this set and had the first models built and on the gaming table within a coup [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
