Does this just replace the main book or additional books?

Would this be viable on a 2x2' table with a little tweaking or does it really need the space?

2 x 2 table will be fast and deadly. Might need to shorten the turn limit to challenge the players so they just don't run in/run off. Or set multiple mission objectives, each with multiple steps. Keep the pressure on.

The PvP game, EZ: Mission Critical uses a 2 x 2 space.

Thanks! I hadn't considered that it would actually make smash and grab easier, good point.

Hi,
I come back on your comment/answer : Razors are melee-exclusive. A razor can't make ranged attack !!!
I always thought that all agents are able to do every actions with 1 or 2 dice depending in their profile.

Which is a fair assumption. But in keeping with the 'fast and simple' style of rules, it is quicker and easier - and more cinematic - to keep each Agent type distinct.

Our group decided the Razor foregoes a ranged weapon to be melee-exclusive. The EZO edition grants them distinct advantages in melee.
OTOH, the Ronin has to improvise with their fists/feet.

The first simply does not have the gear while the second is easily swamped by 1+ H-SEC in close combat.

And given the two dice bonus for their abilities, why wouldn't you use them in ways consistent with their SP? Each shines at their specific style of combat.

Of course, House Rule whatever you want. Use an E-Slot and give your Razor a Back Up weapon if that helps. Your call.

I think the layout is a bit wonky with column layouts. I think more stuff should be in tables. (Weapons, gear, etc.) Stuff is difficult to quickly find during a game.

That said, it’s a fantastic game! A couple questions I don’t think are covered in the book:

Do H-Sec do both melee and shooting attacks?
Agents can only do melee or ranged attacks, depending on their primary?

On the website, it looks like you used 4 agents but the book seems to imply you can take 5. Which is it?

Again great game with some things that could be easily defined in the book.

I bought my book on Amazon and give it 5 stars!

H-SEC use their quality die type for all actions, including ranged and melee combat.

Razors are melee-exclusive. Ronins can fight in melee - if needed - but only use one die.

1,2,3,4,5 Agents. Your call. Use as many as you want. Up to five is the recommendation.

Side note: Can't wrap my head around why a standard 2-column format would be 'wonky'.

Depends on what you're used to, I suppose.

I am just used to information such as enemies, gear, weapons, etc being presented in table form. RPGs and Wargames both do it. It’s just easier to process when looking stuff up.

In a hurry, I don’t want to read text but be able to easily find the information. Charts and tables are much easier for those situations.

It’s a great game, just not laid out in a way that’s easy for me to quickly find important information on the fly.

I'm trying to understand the glitch roll. When it says the value of the turn, does that mean if its turn 5, its a D10 + 5 + number of augs?

Yes.
Glitch 1 Aug = D10 + turn value.
Glitch 2+ Augs = D10 + turn value + # of augs.

The layout of this edition is lovely... black and white evocative illustrations on almost every page as well as text boxes containing mood-setting quotes and story snippets. I appreciate the clean and easy-to-print look with clear headings, lots of tables and end-of-section summary bullet lists. The system has been improved in places in ways that add to the flavour and flow of the game eg how critical successes and critical failures work and the psionic Shivers getting a free disengage from combat due to the discomfort they cause. There also are tips on how to use Shadowrun-type fantasy races and how to integrate the game with more RPG elements. I own all the previous Exploit Zero publications and find this latest update to be a valuable addition to the collection.

As this is an update and omnibus, can you tell us which publications it replaces please? Don't want to buy duplicates. Thanks

The EZO is a second edition of the core rules with some minor clarifications, additions, and optional modifications. For example, the default movement is now 6" instead of 4", and there are suggestions for adding fantasy races if you're partial to 'running in the shadows', as it were.
The EZO also compiles the essential material from the Tsim Sha Tsui Expansion, and Snitches, Glitches and DAF Augs. The rules are confined to solo and cooperative game play, so the PvP version, Hostile Takeover, is not included.
Hope that helps.

Is this a collection of previously released materials collected in one edition or is it a rewrite with some new material more like a second edition?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
