SOVIET RKKA 13th Guards Rifle Division
(1942-43)
1-48TACTIC Faction cards deck series 48W05  (72 cards)

This deck include all the cards needed to play the Soviet 13th Guards Rifle Division from January 1942 until April 1944 as a faction for 1-48TACTIC.
The game quick start rules are freely available from http://1-48tactic.com/rules.htm

On 19 January 1942 the 87th Rifle Division (itself reformed from the 3rd Airborne Corps in 1941) was re-formed again, officially awarded Guards status and re-designated as the 13th Guards Rifle Division. The Guards designation often served mainly as a morale-boosting source of unit pride but also had practical benefits, including double pay for ordinary soldiers and priority in equipment and replacements. The 13th then fought at the second battle of Kharkov where it suffered heavy losses, got rebuilt and participated in the defence of Staligrad and the battle of Kursk before taking part in the final advance into Germany and the Battle of Berlin.
Two Light Squads (with 1 MG each) and 2 Heavy Squads (with 2 MG each) were authorized on paper. In reality, a second DP-27 was very rarely available in the field and most squads had only one. Although in theory all riflemen were supposed to be equipped with semi-automatic weapons in practice a very limited number of SVT-40 rifles were available, and they would usually go to the Senior Rifleman as they had the experience to best take advantage of its increased capability. By mid to late 1943, one or two of the Mosin-Nagant rifles per squad may have been replaced by a PPSh-41 or PPS-43 submachine gun depending on availability, but this would be beyond the period covered by this deck. The squads receiving more of these would eventually become specialist assault units and they should have a separate dedicated deck. All soldiers in this period wear the standard greatcoat that was worn throughout the war, which although warm was not a practical garment in which to fight a battle, so was often rolled up when needed. To maintain faction coherence all Characters in this deck wear the early uniform with collar tab insignia that dates them to before the reforms of early 1943, when M43 uniforms with shoulder boards were introduced. It is a convenient way to differentiate and distinguish late war units.

The Soviet Union's Red Army was formed in 1918 following the Bolshevik October Revolution of 1917, which swept away the rule of the tsars. The Red Army was officially called the RKKA or Red Army of Workers and Peasants (Raboche-Krest'yanskaya Krasnaya Armiya), red being the colour most associated with Bolshevism. It officially became the Soviet Army in 1944.

In 1-48TACTIC you command a small force based on a real world army of WWII and attempt to attain victory over your opponents with your superior tactics and a little luck! The aim of these rules is to provide the simplest possible set of wargame rules that generate a fast playing cinematic game and which gives an involving, passionate and satisfying experience, but also respects real battlefield tactics simulated with intuitive and realistic mechanics. The focus is on small scale action, typically from a section (4-5 figures) to a whole infantry platoon per side. The whole game can be scaled up or down at will without bogging down thanks to 1-48TACTIC robust engine and unique command and control system The gameplay is fast, brutal, involving, passionate and satisfying, and can be experienced at its fullest already with as few as four miniatures for each player! 1-48TACTIC is played on a board as small as 60x60 cm (2'x2') or as much larger as you like. The game is generally played by two people, each in command of a single armed force, called a "playable faction" within the game. A player force don't need to be limited to a single squad however, and three or four players games can be lot of fun!

Will you be releasing a print PDF option. I no longer live in the US, so shipping is either cost prohibitive or impossible. Thanks

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
