Saltwind

You wake up suddenly on the sand…
You had a clear destination in mind, but the sea betrayed you.
The ship you traveled on is now scattered wreckage on an unknown shore. One by one, you awaken, dazed, with the salty taste of the sea still on your tongue and a veil of mist shrouding everything around you. Only four of you remain. The island, where fate has stranded you, is cloaked in an eerie silence, broken only by the rustle of leaves and the distant echo of something indefinable moving within the shadows.
No one knows how you ended up here or why. There were no islands along your planned course.
What happened?
There’s no visible escape, and the sea seems an insurmountable barrier. Do you glimpse other lands on the horizon? Other islets? Or rocks? You’re not sure.
You’re imprisoned by liquid bars. The only choice is to venture into the jungle, explore, and figure out how to leave the island.
You scour the beach, searching for remnants of your belongings left behind as the ship sank. The weather shifts constantly. Sun alternates with biting cold. You arm yourselves and step into the strangely snow-covered vegetation in search of food and drinking water.
You soon realize you’re not alone…

Introducing Saltwind. A Brutal Skirmish Experience Like No Other

Get ready for a game that takes your usual tabletop skirmish experience and pushes it to the extreme: Saltwind. A game of survival, relentless terror, and unpredictability, where every move counts, and every decision could mean life or death.

In Saltwind, we take traditional character stats and turn them into a living, breathing, dynamic system where Strength, Weakness, Intelligence, and Madness constantly fluctuate and interact. These core attributes shape not only your character’s abilities but also their survival, with dire consequences if they reach critical limits. Let one of them hit 0 or 10? It could end in instant death, making each action potentially the last.

The game features deeply creative and savage mechanics. Damage isn't just applied directly, you’ll roll on damage-specific tables every time you take a hit. For example, if you're struck by a slash attack three times, you’ll be rolling on a table to determine the exact, gruesome nature of each injury. The system is designed to be brutal, pushing you to survive in a world where every second counts and every scrap of gear is vital.

Beyond simple combat, Saltwind introduces a constant tension of status effects such as bleeding, poisoning, corrosion and much more, which can chip away at your health, wear down your equipment, and make each playthrough even more challenging.
Once a character dies, their gear gets added to the "stash" and tha treasure might be claimed by another batch of survivors, only to rebuild and try again.

At the heart of the game is its story-driven scenario system. Each game begins in cooperative mode, but the dynamic missions will evolve as you play, with alliances breaking, shifting conditions, and sudden twists of fate pushing players toward chaotic "free for all" scenarios.

Scenarios themselves are crafted from an amazing 1200+ possible combinations, ensuring no two games are alike. Prepare yourself to enter the unknown in a way that’s entirely unique to every single match.

One of the standout features of Saltwind is how every game moment becomes a question of resourcefulness. Characters can scavenge for weapons and resources, craft healing ointments from gathered supplies, or even stitch themselves up with basic tools to heal from damage.

These dynamic actions enrich the tactical depth and make every decision in-game important.
What’s more? Character progression is about survival, resource accumulation, and beating the odds, there are no flashy, unbalanced skills or level-up powers. It’s simple yet captivating, with only a single master table covering everything from abilities to combat effects.
Saltwind delivers the wildest ride of skirmish combat, combining cooperative gameplay, full player agency, brutal damage tables, and ever-shifting gameplay. It’s survival at its rawest. Prepare to endure, adapt, outlast, and die.

Welcome to Saltwind. Brutal, unforgiving, a total mayhem.

The description tells me nothing at all about the themes of the game. Is it setting agnostic?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
