Dominion of the Spear and Bayonet Fight Battles of the Colonial Era Solo Game

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Dominion of the Spear and Bayonet is a very very simple set of solo wargames rules, a standalone set built on the Dominion of the Spear game engine, allowing one to fight two Colonial armies (1800 - 1900 AD) against each other in around ten minutes. They are written for the game to generate a plausible and with some imagination an amusing narrative. Although figures can be used, battles can easily be fought on paper (no measuring) using pen or pencil and two different coloured six sided dice.

Armies consist of 3-6 units and the points system is included. There is a complete play through of a battle on the North West Frontier. A Quick Reference Sheet is on the back.

This is easily read on a tablet or mobile phone and can be printed as an A5 booklet (click booklet and fit to page in printing options). 32 A5 pages.

122 army lists are included covering the following conflicts: Second Anglo-Maratha War, Bolivian War of Independence, Argentine War of Independence, Mexican War of Independence, Tecumseh’s War, Fourth Xhosa War, Creek War, First Seminole war, The First Anglo Burmese War, Padri War (Sumatra), First Anglo-Ashanti War (Ghana), Java War, Second Seminole War, First Opium War, French Conquest of Algeria, Mexican-Texan War (Texas War of Independence), First Anglo-Afghan War, British invasion of Sindh, Franco-Moroccan War, Franco-Tahitian War, First Anglo-Sikh War, New Zealand Wars, Mexican-American War, Taiping Rebellion, Anglo-Persian War, Second Opium War, Indian Mutiny, French Intervention in Mexico, Fenian Raids, British Expedition to Abyssinia (Ethiopia), North West Frontier Black Mountain Expeditions, Russian Conquest of Central Asia, Third Anglo-Ashanti War, Aceh War (Indonesia), Great Sioux War, Nez Perce War, Second Anglo-Afghan War, Anglo-Zulu War, First Boer War (The Transvaal War), Belgians in the Congo, Mahdist War, Tonkin Campaign (Northern Vietnam) and Sino-French War, North-West Rebellion, Italo-Ethiopian Wars, Abushiri Revolt (Tanzania), Hehe Resistance, Second Franco-Dahomean War (Benin), First Matabele War (Zimbabwe), North West Frontier Chitral Campaign, Conquest of Gaza (Mozambique), Cuban War of Independence, North West Frontier Tirah and Tochi Campaign, Spanish-American War, Philippine-American War, Boxer Rebellion, Second Boer War.

Excellent rules, I am really enjoying these, and with the pre-defined actual battles extension. Simple rules but significant decision making all through the game :-)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
