Archibald, Certainly Not!

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Archibald, Certainly Not! is a game of World War One aerial combat focused on fun and playability.
The game can be played on any table, completely free of hexes and hex mats using garden variety six sided dice. Additionally there is almost no tracking of altitude or excessive clutter. Archibald’s clean mechanics lead to great fun and the feel of aerial combat during the Great War (minus the sheer terror), while minimizing the bookkeeping.
A typical game will last from one to two hours, depending greatly on the number of aircraft involved and each player’s tendency to ponder.

The game includes an extensive list of ratings for all types of aircraft, not just sexy Spads and Fokker D.VIIs,  along with a well informed QRS.

And as a separate download, there are stl files for you to print your own aircraft stands customized specifically for Archibald, Certainly Not.

Missing... pretty much everything for that price. Preview pages, pictures, playthrough videos... How about something. Thanks

Thanks for pointing that out, there must have been a glitch somewhere when the product was launched. Previews are active, sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you for the updated info. Will you be doing a youtube play through by chance? I might pic this up. I really prefer WW2 Aviation but I'm really considering this one.

I would really like to do a youtube playthrough but I when I moved last summer I lost my game room (truly a horror of horrors), so I must first surmount that problem. I'm currently relegated to the kitchen table, which is hardly conducive to a nice video.
Thanks again for pointing out the lack of previews, a lot of people would simply ignore it and move on.

Sorry for the gameroom loss. I feel your pain. I left the US and moved overseas, but I had to leave almost my entire game collection there for now. Just so you know (at least for me) a playthrough doesn't have to be perfect, simply because most developers or designers do nothing to show their rulesets. If I may suggest, if you choose to do a kitchen table production, just do a turn in pieces. 1 vid for movement examples, combat, etc. Whatever the key points are. It doesn't have to be a complete game. Just something to wet the whistle so to speak. Sorry, it's the retired marketing/sales manager in me. You do what makes you comfortable. I think you have at least one sale here though and good luck Patricia.

Thank you Gene for the advice, it sounds doable and I will see what we can arrange. And thanks too for the kind words, they are always appreciated.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
