Open Range - Cattle Drive Rules for Ruthless

OPEN RANGE is a supplement to the FREE Western gunfight rules RUTHLESS that enables the simulation of cattle drives in the Old West. There are three (3) PDF books in this title.

1) The Open Range Rules is a simulation of driving cattle in the Old West for up to 8 players.  Players will work or “trail” a cattle herd in scenarios using Cowpuncher Actions and encounter situations where the Ruthless Gunfighting Actions can also be used.  The two rule sets work together and use the same game mechanics. Familiarity with the FREE Ruthless rules is necessary to play Open Range. 12 pages including game markers and a Quick Reference Rules Sheet.

2) The Scenario Design Guide & Trail Hazard Reference provides basic templates and guidance to create Open Range scenarios. Five different templates are included. There are also rules for incorporating various types of “Trail Hazards” – bandits, rustlers, wolves and other wild animals and nature in the form of storms, flooding rivers, etcetera. Driving a herd will require cooperative action among the Trail Crew. 24 pages, example Trail Hazard character cards and blank character card templates.

3) The Cowboy Character Cards & Chuckwagon with Contents book includes: a variety of 84 character cards used to create and play a 12-person Trail Crew;  a cutout-fold-and-glue Chuckwagon envelope game piece and the “chuckwagon content” tokens used to fill it; and  two quick reference rule sheets - one for driving and playing the Chuckwagon game piece and one for managing the Remuda – the herd of spare horses for the Cowboys. The survival or destruction  of the wagon and/or Remuda can be scenario victory conditions. 30 pages.
