Verrotwood: The Old West

Verrotwood: The Old West is a standalone expansion for Verrotwood that takes the folk horror into the American southwest.

Verrotwood is not required to play this standalone expansion but you can easily add to your games by combining elements from both games.

-A simple yet robust D10 dice pool system that grows the more strategically you play.

-A very low model count. Each cult is made up of only four models.

-A flexible cult creation system that lets you make the cult you want.

-A focus on kitbashing.

-AI creatures and special terrain to make every game you play unique.

-A fully solo mode.

-A versatile campaign where your cults will battle for power to please their sleeping gods.

Curious about the kinds of enemies you will face in the game. Just checking to see what minis I have available. Will the cult be facing off against human cowboys? Beast?

Sorry I just saw this. Humans for solo play and a bunch of different creatures can be added to Encounters to spice things up. They range from giant snakes to undead Gunslingers to Bigfoot.

In a campaign, how do you earn Power? I'm assuming that the side that wins an Encounter gets 1 Power, but I can't find that in the rules.

Thanks. My Children of the Starving God just defeated the Hangmen 4-2 in a Relic Hunt. After boosting two of their defense stats, I decided to try the Spectral Locomotive. One of the things I really like about your system is how easy it is to digest, and to modify as needed. E.g., I don't have any good miniatures for a Disciples of the Flame cult, but I do have some Stone Brutes from Shadows of Brimstone. So with a few tweaks, I made my own cult sheet for the Disciples of the Stone (can't be knocked prone, of course). Thanks for making such a great product.

380 megabytes? And 180 for the printer-friendly version? I'd love to read this on my phone - the formatting looks comfortable to read on a screen - but for the love of some horrible eldritch god, please figure out how to optimise that. 3.8 MB might be more reasonable, but I'd take 30.

One more: on p. 20, it says it costs 50 Ritual Points to increase a stat and 75 RP to increase health. Should that be Favor instead of RP?

BTW, I’m planning on making a Troglodyte Cult based on the movie Bone Tomahawk. I’ll borrow the Cannibalism trait from the core Verrotwood rules, and of course take Banshee Scream for that weird bone throat whistle.

Great catch. Yes is supposed to be Favor.
I love the Cult idea!

Just to be sure, each time your shoot a gun, you use an ammo? So if you buy 4 ammo for 20 RP before an Encounter, you’ll get only 4 shots?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
