Blight Seas Fleet

Blight Seas Fleet is an indie naval-themed miniatures skirmish game set in a dark fantasy world, where small fleets of hulking pre-dreadnoughts crewed by reanimated corpses battle for control of the world’s dwindling resources. The game has been out in public beta as a free-to-play PDF ruleset for over a year now and has gone through a couple of revisions based on feedback from playtesting. A full range of miniatures has been developed for the game, which are currently for sale as unsupported and pre-supported STL files for home 3d printing.

Blight Seas Fleet was influenced by the now defunct Battlefleet Gothic and the indie skirmish game Turnip 28. If you are familiar with either of those games, or more modern commercial miniature skirmish games like X-Wing and Armada, you will have a good understanding of what to expect in terms of gameplay. A brief overview of core features is as follows:
-         2 player competitive gameplay
-         5 turn limit
-         Alternating activations
-         Mission or objective based with victory points scored at the end of each turn
-         Approximately 3-12 ships per player depending on the mission
The lumbering bulk of the Abominable-class battleship, Undying Tyrant, burst through the clouds of dense smoke with its guns belching fire. Thick, dark water crashed against its armoured prow and sent great flurries of spray up into the air that would have drenched its decks, were they not deflected by the black wings of the wrought iron vulture that perched atop its bow.

From his vantage point, high up on the bridge, Captain Fuller-West surveyed his officers as they directed shambling hordes of mindless seamen to load and operate the Tyrant’s secondary batteries. Clumsily, but tirelessly and with the strength of several men they worked, valuable Reagent coursed through their veins and animated their patchwork bodies. This was the miracle of the Empire’s great Corpse Technicians, not resurrection, but corpse-slaves that were no more alive than a steam engine or repeating rifle and no less expendable.

Is there a better place to ask questions?
1. How long does a "Scouted" marker last?
2. Can the faction ships be taken more than once in a fleet?

At the moment, probably not. I'm most active on Instagram and will reply to DMs there, so that might be faster for more immediate and in depth replies. I'm currently working on the GameFound campaign and starting to set up a module for Tabletop Simulator, but I'll look into making a Discord server once that's up and running.

Regarding the questions:
1. The intention is that the token is just a reminder for the rule, so the target will remain scouted until the scouting squadron can no longer scout it (loss of line of sight or they are completely destroyed) or choose to do something else (open fire or scout a different target). However, on reflection, this is definitely not clear, so I will update the rules. Thanks for the question!
2. There is no restriction on what ships can be taken other than the agreed upon Order of Battle for the mission, so yes. So far, in playtesting, this hasn't caused any serious balance issues, but if any issues do arise I'll look into either rebalancing the ship...See more

This looks like BFG Wet Navy done right. I also notice that all the base sizes are available from Reaper Miniatures, so good picks there. Is there an online community for the game anywhere? Is love to get more of the setting and see the art vision.

Thanks for the feedback! There's a small community mostly on Instagram at the moment. I'm about to start crowdfunding to try to get a physical starter set manufactured. I'm also hoping to develop a module for Tabletop Simulator soon, which might help to get things going.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
