WARS  - ANCIENT –

Wars is a game system created to handle three-dimensional wargames with historical and/or fantasy miniatures.

It is a generic system that can be adapted to different settings. From one version to the other the rules change accordingly to the type of units available, strategies and potential special rules.

The goal of the game is to win the battle, forcing the enemy army to surrender. This being obtained when sufficient number of enemy units has been eliminated.

Wars rules system wants to be quick and enjoyable offering the possibility to run amusing battles where creativity and imagination can easily make up for lack of scenic elements.

This edition is set for simulation of ancient period battles.

The system includes two methods to create your army: the first one is to use one of the historical armies provided with the game; in this case you can simply select the number and type of units defined by the army and start your battle. 

The second approach allows the quick creation of a random army as follows: draw four of the eleven Army Cards available in the game and use those units to make your army following the respective limitations. In addition, six strategic cards are drawn to further specialise the army with twists to be played during battle or upgrades to the selected units.

The alternating activation system of the Wars generals creates a perfect balance between reality and stage fiction. Wars a system simple to learn but not trivial to master.

The rules kit is composed of the following elements:

  • 113 Detachments bases
  • Terrain Tiles (Hills, Woods, Swamp)

Commanders move freely, that is, you can literally move them anywhere on the battlefield, at your choice.

Wait for the next turn and remember to move the general / commander close to them. In the current turn if out of command, they will not be able to move.

Why do some units have a hyphenated combat value? For example, Warbands have a CV of 3-4.

Will you produce counters for other eras, like mediaeval units?

Because in the case of warbands, the value of their "Fierce" ability is also present. When they attack they have CV 4, if CV 3 are attacked.This also applies to Cavalry Values and Chariots.

As for the medieval era, I'll think about it.

Also the card startegist. Can a player during the game move the 3 units he is repositioning to anywhere on the battlefield, as is to say place them behind the enemy army as long as they do not start or end the turn 4MU away from an enemy?

Hello, I explain better the "Strategis" card, the condition (the most honest to not anger your opponent, since this card ... does, and to make it real) is that the displaced detachments are not in line of sight with the enemy (6MU) and that they are at least 4 MU from any enemy detachment from the edge of the playing field .... even behind the enemy army.

Seems cool. Can the author please explaine the translate move in the book? DOnt understand it ;) . Also only units that have been put into ready to fire status may fire during the enemies turn right?

The Ranged weapons attack is a phase in itself. all detachments that can fire do. This fire is simultaneous, so players can choose which detachment to start from and resolve shots.
After this phase is the commanders activation phase .... no detachment uses throwing weapons anymore.
All detachments can be activated even if they have used their throwing weapons, except the Warmachines who, if they have fired, cannot move, in fact there is a piece that identifies it.64 / 5.000

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
