The game “Iron Cross” was born out of the desire of a group of “wargamers” from the 70s / 80s to simulate their historical battles from WWII, made in the past with maps and tokens, using this time miniatures and 3D scenarios suitable to represent small and medium scale tactical actions. We started in 2004, with the launch of our 1st — edition and in the following two years, with the publication of several modules for the system.
The system stopped in 2007, due to some problems with the miniatures and the need to rewrite the rules, since they were already well changed, due to the publication of several articles and modules by us. We left the game in the public hands for a long time, and in this year 2020, we are back in action.

We´ve been wanting to make small changes to the system for a few years now, mainly with regards to the measurement scales and the introduction of the Suppression Fire mechanic. In this new edition we will make this more realistic, in addition to working on three different booklets in our system. However for you who play our first edition, our material remains 100% compatible, as we believe that changes should not harm our old material. That’s why we’re going to work with our players to keep the gameplay original and above all fun.

The main changes we would like to point out are the following:

- Changing the metric system from cm to inches

- 3 rules booklets will be published; the first for infantry, the second for armored vehicles and artillery, the third for special or advanced rules, which we are developing.
This decision was made as we try to bring greater modularization to our system and thus increase the playability and reach for both new and veteran players.

- The scale adopted will be 1/300, but we intend to address the 15mm scale in the future, as it is very popular among gamers.

This is the first booklet: Infantry Rules. Game will always be in the pay what you want modality, but if you can contribute to our work, we appreciate it. We are wargame players like you who are reading these rules. We want to bring you the best and provide hours of fun at your gaming tables.

These initial set contains:

- German, USA, French, Japan, Soviet, British, Italian and Poland 6mm infantry STL files for 3d printing

- 3 Free Houses STL files for 3d printing

- Game Markers (paper and STL)

- 1 Player Aid

- 1 rule booklet

- Armies list

See the first edition here.

Why change to inches? Can I now formally ask that you change back to metric measurement? These rules are interesting but changing all the distance back to metric is too much of an ask so I won't be supporting them, sorry.

I cant understand why the change from cm to inches. Only two countries in the whole world use inches, the rest of us use the metric system. The reasonable thing is the weird people using inches to adapt their lifes to the normal metric system, not the other way arround. Sorry but that decision makes no sense at all, and its a shame, cause it looks like a very good game. All of us who uses metric system can look up in google any app or web to change inches to Cm but these guys using inches cant? They need to have the game in inches or they dont play or what? Its ridicolous.

Were you unaware the Great Escape Games has a ruleset by the very same name since about 2018? This is undoubtedly going to cause confusion as to whether or not this is a new version of that ruleset.

Hello, Iron Cross was launched in 2004 in Brazil through our group of wargamer players (see our story in the rulebook). in 2007 we tried to launch it on the international market, but we were not successful and the game remained dormant for many years. In 2018 I started working on a leaner and more updated set of rules and we decided in 2019/2020 to release the game. Some people have already asked me about it and I have always clarified that we have no connection with similar titles from other companies. Our system covers the most important ww2 armies and we are currently revamping the game. The rules are free and if someone wants to contribute (pay what you want mode) we are grateful because it is a recognition of our effort. The name of the system is very special to us, as it is a tribute to the Cross of Iron by Avalon Hill. My first experience as a wargamer was the Squad Leader and the way we present certain things (mainly our scenarios), is a way to honor this game that was very important in my career as a...See more

Very Interested in the game, will you have to have these rules in order to play the TANK rules that are coming later? ( I am a armor junkie), I am also a hex based player, just easy to transport, so i would also be interested.

Thank you!!!The rules "talk to each other", but you can only play with the armored ones. The cool thing is that you combine the two to have a complete experience.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
