AtomBlitz: Operation Epic Poem

The year is 2039. Against the background of the rest of exhausted Europe, Scandinavia seems quite prosperous: there is no war, or even hunger. Sweden, a small regional leader with a recently acquired nuclear arsenal, seems to be completely safe from any encroachments. Neighbors on the peninsula are reaching out to her for protection.

A rogue state, the Great British Republic, is stirring up the North Sea. Once proud frigates, and now pirate ships of the British scurry back and forth in search of prey. Threatening with missiles, they take the "passage fee" from every oncoming vessel. In a world where bank accounts have lost value, tribute is collected in goods: from tankers - oil, from trawlers - fish, and so on.

So far, no one has dared to resist the brazen sea racketeers, but there is a limit to everything. When the British Overprotector demanded offshore oil platforms from the Norwegian government, the King-Queen of Sweden stood up for the allied country, threatening nuclear retaliation...

...Finally, we present the wargame community Operation Epic Poem, the second installation in the AtomBlitz series. Compared to its predecessor, in this game you will find:

- reorganized graphic player interface;

- two new high-tech post-hybrid armed forces - British and Swedish;

- full set of modern and near-future ground and air military assets, including AFVs, artillery pieces, drones and infantry guided weapons;

- FLEET, including small landing craft, corvettes, frigates and a mighty aircraft carrier;

- a set of naval combat mechanics for ships with an internal structure;

- rethinked aircraft mechanics with addition of changable underwing weapons;

- improwed multi-layer anti-air defense mechanics;

- and, at last, an arsenal of highly destructive NUCLEAR WEAPONS for both opponents.

The game set contains two medium-sized maps [58.2x20.2 cm and 40.6x58.2 cm], one for naval and one for ground combat, and six sheets of 18 mm counters for infantry units, ground and air combat vehicles, ships, ship modules and wide array of aircraft weapons. The three-mission campaign allows players to participate in a daring raid by the British fleet on a large industrial city on the Swedish coast.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
