Hostile Environment: Walk

Giant walking war machines fight for control of a world in anarchy.

In 2042, the world has entered a state of Total Chaos. P68P, an airborne poisonous pollen has wiped out 20% of the Earth’s population with no answer in sight. The United States has broken apart into a civil war, while a World War wages on in the East. Walks, giant war machines clash across the lands burying their enemies in their dust.

Hostile Environment: Walk is a 1/285 (6mm) Mech Miniatures game for 1-4 players.

Hex maps, miniatures, and 6 D20's and multiple D6's are needed to play.

There is a built in Solobot table for solo or co-op play. The AI can also be controlled by the Walk Solobot AI deck (sold separately).

Walk is played on hex maps with 1/285th scale miniatures. It uses a chit-pull system to keep opponents on their toes. Each round is broken into four action phases for each squad. Players may activate any single unit, or they may gamble and roll dice in an attempt to activate extra units.  Players keep track of the weapon heat, ammo, cores, and hit points with the unit cards.

Walk Character Sheet

Once activated, a unit uses Action Points to flank its enemies and unleash Hell. The action is fast and vicious. Chain guns, rail guns, lasers, missiles, rockets, toxic smoke, and fire rip through armor leaving death in its wake. With an array of over 10 different weapon systems and hardpoints, players can create the Walk of their dreams. Players form their crews with Walks and other sci-fi war machines, then battle over different scenarios for victory.

A leveling system is included to lead green fighters into becoming elite fighting forces. Pro and Elite pilots gain special abilities, above the normal bonuses.

The Hunt is on!

It's not a terrible ruleset, basically a knock-off battletech dealy which is ok, but its getting a low rating because it's $10 and talks a big talk in the description, and then you download it, and its 12 pages. I bought three other books in [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
