These rules are an evolution of FIRE TEAM: VIETNAM in a Version 2.0, with the aim of simplifying the rules so that it is easier and faster to play. But also to be able to play at 2 tactical levels with the corresponding rules and maps:

Platoon Command = Sub-tactical , 1 hex = 5 meters, a Game Turn = 1 minute.

Company Command = Tactical, 1 hex = 40 meters, a Game Turn = 5 minutes.

FIRE TEAM: VIETNAM 2  Platoon Command is a Sub-Tactical level game of the Vietnam War, (1965-1975) that places each player in the role of a Company Commander, Sections and Squad of the U.S. Army or Allied Infantry Company against the forces of the National Liberation Front (NLF) (Viet Cong) and the North Vietnam Army (NVA) through various missions in the Vietnam.  Each Game turn represents about one (1) minute of real time and each hexagon about 5 meters in diameter. Scenarios last 1 to 3 hours.


1.1 Game Description

 The Game Counters represent Infantry Units (Fire Team, Weapon Team, Leader and Other Units), Vehicles, Helicopters, Aircraft and River Ships. In addition, there are Counters and Markers that represent Civilians, Caches (Rice, Medical and Munitions), Bunkers, Trench, Foxholes and Tunnel Entrances, Traps, Mines. Units have a Quality Value and Combat Units have Fire Power and Weapon Range.  Vehicles, Helicopters and River Ships also have a Defensive Modifier (armour).  The Infantry Units consist of one to four men, which affects the possible boarding in Helicopters, Vehicles and Ships as well as for losses.

The game's engine is a Random Activation in which players activate Leaders and Units to perform Actions. Typically for each Activation, a Player will draw an Activation Marker from an opaque container (such as a cup). This Marker will indicate which Player (Camp) can perform an Activation. The Activation Marker can be used to activate a Leader and all Units within its Command range (6 hexagons), either to activate all Units in a hexagon or a single Unit. A player can also "Pass" his Activation (no Actions), then an upcoming Activation Marker is drawn from the cup.

FIRE TEAM: VIETNAM V2.0 Platoon Command is a wargame that is played with hexagonal Game Tiles and Counters and markers.

Nothing prevents you from using figurines (in 1/144 or 1/285) instead of pawns.

The period depicted is the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1975, it is a Tactical level because the game scale is a hexagon of 25 mm (side to side) represents 5 meters, the Counters represented Teams from 1 to 4 Soldiers and a Tour of Play is equal to about 1 minute.

The game is played on geomorphic hexagonal Game Boards (juxtaposable tiles) which are arranged by categories and series:

Elephant Herbs, Rice, Villages, Rivers, Jungle, etc. which are available on Wargame Vault.

Hi all! Thank you for your questions.
These are new rules for the purpose of simplification and speed, for example:
- In the rules V1.0: in a Team each soldier could have a different weapon and the Fire were individualized as well as the losses in the results. Nothing prevents you from using Team of the V1.0.
- in the V2.0 it is an overall firepower of the Team that is taken into account and the results are simpler.
- All V1.0 Teams will be redone, because now there are only 2 values of a Team: Quality and FirePower.
- Vehicles and Tanks will now be available from the USMC that I had not done yet. But I'm also thinking of redoing the Counters of the US Army (First Cav in 1965, the Basic Units with conscripts,...) , Special Forces (Green Bete, SEAL, ...) , M48, ACAV,... as well as the anZC, ARVN,...
Where I need you, because I am French, and that English is not my native language, it is about translating the rules into ...

I have the original squads, will they work with the new rules? At first glance it seems as though they should, but that's not a detailed, thorough look...

I have been waiting for these to come out. The map tiles are fantastic and I've been waiting for the rules. Looking forward to creating a review.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
