Starmada: Full Thrust

Watermarked PDF

Starmada: Full Thrust is a supplement for the Universal Game of Starship Combat providing background and ship designs for four separate factions, each taken from Ground Zero Games' excellent line of Full Thrust miniatures. Over 75 individual ship classes are covered, from tiny corvettes to massive superdreadnoughts!

This book includes all of the optional rules, weapons, and systems needed to replicate space combat in the Full Thrust universe. In addition, players may choose from two alternate movement systems to create the type of game they want to play.

Finally, simplified construction rules are provided which will allow you to build your own starships to face off against those already in the book. Best of all, the ship designs within these pages are fully compatible with—and balanced against—ships from other Starmada settings without any further modification or adjustment.

So what are you waiting for? Assemble your fleet, grab an opponent, and rule the stars!

In order to play Starmada: Full Thrust, at a minimum you will need the free demo rules, available from the Majestic Twelve Games web site:

A copy of the the Starmada Unity Rulebook would be better, as it adds a number of additional options to the game. However, owning that product is not required.

Which four factions are in this? Converting these to proper Admiralty Edition stats are going to be hard enough, but if the NSL isn't even in here, there's no point at all in my purchasing this.

The book includes the "big four" human factions: NSL, NAC, ESU, and FSE.

This book's ships are the easiest to use among the Starmada Universe ships in the Unity book and Star Fleet Battles ships, because they have the least traits and therefore the least rules lookups. There are no marines, probes, kinetic weapons, repeating weapons, ionized hulls, etc. Fighters and defenses against them are prevalent, though. As a beginner, I'd recommend starting with these Full Thrust ships.
There are plenty of ships of each hull class; ie, frigate, destroyer, scout, dreadnought, etc., so you can create fair fights easily.
EVERY ship has a picture, so that's nice.
The only negative is that the ships don't have any "flavor text".

Thanks for catching that! That's a typo; the pricing in the shopping cart is correct ($12.99 for the PDF).

I ended up buying directly from MJ12, because I wanted a hard-copy as well.
If you buy both, they give 50% off on the digital copy - slightly cheaper than the discounted amount here.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
