Hm, the whole series looks quite interesting. But I don´t get the actual difference between the Expeditions and the Showdown titles!?!
Do they have the same content and are only differentiated by the used rules or are there more differences?

PUBLISHER
Hi there! Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I missed this comment before. So, first of all, thanks so much for bringing this up. I need to send a note to everyone who downloaded Showdown and its expansions, and this is a good reminder.

There really isn't a difference in the concept. It basically plays more or less the same as Showdown, but with different game mechanics. The reason why I'm doing this version is because there were people who were interested in the game until they learned they had to download another game separately, and they weren't so crazy about going through rules in one book, then another, and back and forth. I'm also planning on coming out with an RPG soon, and while I'm planning on having a Savage Worlds version, I want to have something that, when people buy it, that's all they need.

By the way, I will be doing expansions for both versions as we move forward. I got delayed on expanding the Showdown version because of this new version, but once I've...See more

Thx! First things first: no worries! I know many in the wargame/RPG business often do that as a second or even third or fourth job so I understand that people can´t answer immediately and I´m rather used to wait - be it rules, minis or questions. So, everythings fine.
And I´m happy getting an answer at all - that wouldn´t be the first time I wouldnt´t get any. But, you may understand, I don´t want to spend money on things that confuse me - but, gladly, there´s no confusion anymore! :)
Now I know which path to take.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
