Precis Intermedia brings back this classic boardgame set in the Heroic Age of Greek Mythology (originally published by Yaquinto Publications).

This boardgame for 2 to 10 players puts each of them in the role of a major Greek god/goddess to control mortal heroes and legendary monsters.

The Basic Game is the easiest way to get started. It uses only a minimum of game components and has only two pages of rules. Half the players favor the heroes, while the other half favors the monsters. Alliances can be made and broken in the quest to earn the most glory through victory.

The Advanced Game has many more rules to enhance play, focusing on the control of individual heroes and monsters. It is very different from the Basic Game. Famous heroes (like Jason, Hercules, and Theseus) must face the constant perils of fearsome creatures (like Medusa, Minotaur, and Harpies), divine threats (like earthquakes, volcanoes, and pestilence), and even The Fates in order to survive. Aid can come from a variety of sources, such as the Muses, Caerus, and even divine swords and armor. Glory can be won by a number of actions, with the most-prominent being prizes like Pegasus, the Golden Fleece, and Andromeda. Returning such prizes to Greece is the ultimate source of glory. A deck of cards is used to manifest the powers of the lesser gods, enact events on which certain gods must focus, and call on an Oracle's wisdom to gain more glory.

Optional rules for the Advanced Game include Prayer/Sacrifice to aid heroes further during play, adding an 11th player as Zeus, incorporating lesser evils to complement the monsters, and a historical set-up table for placing certain counters.

This remastered PDF download includes the following files to print and play:
  • B&W rulebook explaining how to play both the Basic Game and Advanced Game, with a quick reference section and Log Sheet for the Advanced Game.
  • The Mapboard in three formats: full-size 28x22", split version for Letter-sized printing, and split version for A4 printing.
  • Color and B&W version of the counter sheets, including 10 gods, 32 heroes, 32 monsters, 32 fates, 8 ships, 10 prizes, 10 god points, 19 hero helpers, 1 game turn, 25 divine occurrences, and 16 lesser evils.
  • 10 god cards listing special powers.
  • 54 playing cards (for both 1 and 2-sided printing).
Requires two 6-sixed dice of different colors.

Nice restoration, well done.
Card 28 has Morphius, God of Dreams. It should be Morpheus.
I see that you have corrected some names on the map (Phoecinia -> Phoenicia) and made some changes.
Looking at an image of the original map, I think I would have changed Scytlians to Scythia, Caucaus to Caucasus, Cush to Kush, Greece to Hellas and Celts to Keltia.
Thanks for giving a second life to this game.

Thanks for that. Will fix the card in the next few days. I didn't want to change the names on the map too much, but good suggestions for a future edition.

If purchasing this brings you even one small step towards really printing this, I am very glad to take that step!

Thanks. There is a plan to get this printed, but it's a logistics issue (especially due to the size of the map). However, a browser-based Disposable Boardscapes™ system is also in the works via the pigames.net site.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
