Cold War Tanker

Watermarked PDF

Cold War Tanker is an expansion of the Too Fat Lardies What a Tanker game.  It brings the game into the 1980s cold war by including Anti Tank Missiles, LAW  toting infanty with their vehicles as well as platoon movement for the Warsaw Pact.  Of course you need vehicle stats and there are stats for the Russian, US, West German and French vehicles, 43 in all.  It keeps the simple fast play spirit of the original game so helicopters are not included.  There are very optional rules for infantry vrs infantry combat, ERA armor and side skirts.

What a Tanker is required for this supplement. It is graphics free, printer friendly except for the title page.  All proceeds will go to my local food bank.  So if you ever wanted to face hordes of russian tanks coming over the border;  here is your chance!

Just bought this. Looks interesting. Can't wait to give it a test-run.

Hope you have great success with the local Food Bank. Very nice of you to help them out.

Do you have a suggested points system for troops armed with RPGs, and/or ATGMs?

Can you provide an example of a firefight between a 6 man squad and an 8 man one, just for clarity, since I'm unclear if "hits" relate to the loss of each man in a squad, or the fire team/whole squad?

I imagine I can work out some stats for older vehicles, like the 90mm armed M47, M48, and M48A2C for the Americans and West Germans, given some stats you've provided.

How do you determine the point values for the vehicles?

Robert, thank you for your purchase! I envisioned troops paired with vehicles hence the vehicles listed come with a "free" squad. So if you pick a M-113 you get a squad (infantry division) or a fireteam ( cavalry troop) included. Remember, the focus here is still on vehicles. The idea is they are a matched set. If you wanted an isolated infantry unit I would say 4 points for RPGs and 5 points for ATGMs. Since the focus is on tanks infantry combat is abstracted; hits are per unit not per man. In game terms a 6 man squad is the same as an 8 man squad. In the quick way there is a negative modifier for a weapons team when fighting a whole squad. Make sense? I have stats already included for the 90mm Patton. Look under the West Germans. { Works for Vietnam too!} Other vehicles let me know and I will try to help you out. For point values I set the BMP 1 as 10 points and worked off of that. As stated, the stats have been extensively playtested but the point values have not. Does that help?...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
