Star Troopers: Lost Station

Watermarked PDF

Sign, they said. You'll see the stars, live adventures, make a name for yourself!

Yeah, right...

They always forget to point out one thing: when you're a mercenary in one of these private armies working for a transstellar conglomerate, you spend more time keeping an eye on a staff who works on stuff you don't know a thing about than seeing any real action. Especially when you're assigned to an isolated outpost so far from any regular spacelines that it took two months for your ride to bring you there...

And it's a weird station for sure. Just a few days after your arrival, with barely the time necessary to learn your way from the dormitories to the security office and nothing more, rumors already abound about the project being developed here: some sort of biological weapon, a new species of artificial fauna built to ensure the supremacy of your employer's client for all the corporate wars to come.

Or, for short, something completely illegal according to every law in the known universe...

But no opportunity to ask questions, especially as you could guess the answer in advance, because a siren suddenly screams the red alert: a containment breach has occurred and whatever was in development here is now on the loose. As one man, your squad gears up and exits the security office. Behind the door, you see only darkness and hear screams of panic in the distance, echoing along the corridors of the station.

There is only one way to survive this situation: reach the shuttle bay and escape.

But where's this shuttle bay already?

Star Troopers: Lost Station is a tactical level futuristic combat solo/co-op game pitting advanced Soldiers against alien-like creatures attacking in swarms. In a solo game, the player controls all Soldiers while the game system controls the Geno forces; in a two-player game, the control of every Soldier is distributed evenly among players. Optional rules allow an additional player to take control of the Genos for an even higher challenge for the Soldiers player(s).

Four categories of Soldiers are available including the average Privates, the higher-skilled Sergeant, and two specialized units: the Gunner wielding a Heavy Machinegun and the Pyro with his Flamer. Additional equipment such as hand grenades and motion detector-based sights are also available.

Geno opponents exist in only one category. They only have melee attacks, but they make up for it with overwhelming numbers and high speed.

The board is made of square tiles chosen randomly and added to the game as the Soldiers progress in the complex overrun by the Genos. Many of these tiles include special conditions such as various hazards, temporarily blocked paths or even Geno ambushes, but also random items like additional ammo or body armor and other equipment to increase the odds of your Soldiers' survival.

The game ends when surviving Soldiers reach the Exit tile. If all Soldiers get killed by the Genos, the player(s) lose(s).

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
