Why a Gamesystem for Battles in the Pacific and South East Asia?

There are many other miniature games on the market, but mostly the Pacific is only a side notice. The battles in the Pacific and South East Asia played an important role in the war and for a tabletop gamer it has a lot of potential for modelling, collecting and gaming as well. That‘s why we decided to lay the focus on it, because we are very interested in that period of time and it‘s worth to learn more about it.

What you get in the Frontline Miniature Core Rulebook:

• Comprehensive basics, optional and advanced rules
• Organisation lists for Pacific WWII nations
• Tanks and gun charts
• Numbered rules set out in a clear order of play for easy reference
• Rules explanation backed by photos and diagrams
• Standard and special scenarios for re-play, illustrating the rules in action
• Rules for air combat
• Practical tips and hints for setting up exciting tabletop battles

The Frontline Miniature Core Rulebook covers all rules you need to reenact battles in the Pacific and South East Asia, including dogfights.
It works for these miniature sizes: 1:100, 1:72, 1:56

I cannot log in to your website so I ask a question here. What is meant by the second sentence?:

If you are in 5 cm / 2 ‘‘ + - range of your weapons maximum distance then you test on a ‚to hit‘ by throwing a D10 against your TL.
If it‘s more than 5 cm / 2 ‘‘ then you get +2 on the roll to hit.

Should that read "If you are more than 5 cm / 2" + the range of your weapon, then you get a +2 to that roll."?

Thank you.

Hello Martin,

Thank you for your question. Yes, that’s right: You need to add +2 to the dice roll if your target is more than 5 cm/2“ away. The intention of this rule is to ensure that you still have a chance to hit a target even if your guess was wrong.

Situation: You shoot with an infantry weapon (max. distance 40 cm/16“) at the opponent infantry team in the open (for example in 46 cm distance), your TL is 5. You still have a chance to hit the target but you have to add +2 to your dice roll.

Examples:
(1) Let’s say you roll a 9, you have to add +2, in sum = 11, this means you missed the target.

(2) If you would roll an 8 for example, you hit the target. 8+2 = 10, as you hit the target from 6 to 10 without other modifications. But remember to add other modifications, like dug in, concealed etc. if needed!

There is one restriction: You cannot hit a target above the maximum shooting distance plus 10 cm/4“.

To all:...See more

Very interested, but I’d like to know more. How solo-friendly is it? Is there a campaign system? What is the ideal force size (squad, platoon, company, etc.)? What is the size of the typical playing piece (man, team, squad, etc.? How are the amphibious rules?

hi there!
Just a few quick answers to the game, we hope this helps:

Playing modes: Yes it is solo friendly (we use initative rolls and we did many solo playtests with great fun) but the main intension was to create a game for two or more players.
Campaigns: Normally you would play single battles but you can even create campaigns with the moral points system and the fuel and supply rules - in the book we designed a small introduction campaign on wake island (three battles).
Size and bases: The idea was to leave this to the players as you can use different sizes and for the game itself this does not play a major role as the shooting rules do not consider the base itself. You may group miniatures for HQ and combat and support squads or teams on small, middle or large bases (artillery) - the vehicles normally are not based (we don't like that much).
Amphibious rules: They are quite simple and restrict movement or will simply slow down movement in the water for amphibious crafts...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
