Five Parsecs : Gang Warfare

Watermarked PDF
Suggested Price $7.99

The adventure continues.

With Five Parsecs : Gang Warfare you can play out solo gang warfare on future planets, quicker and simpler than ever before.

Create your gang of unique individuals, outfit them with what you got and take on all comers.

The character creation follows the very popular method from Five Parsecs From Home but with brand new tables suitable for a crew of rogues, scoundrels and misfits.

Gang Warfare is intended for solo play (though you could play with a friend as well) in a campaign.

Watch your cretins and scoundrels gain experience and become a force to be reckoned with.

The game engine is intended for solo play from the get go:

This means we've avoided complex rules that are easy to lose track of, kept the number of exceptions and special cases to a minimum and all solo play mechanics are integrated directly into the core rules.

No need to flip back and forth between Movement and the Solo mechanics any longer.

The best part?

If you own both this and the Five Parsecs From Home  rules you will be happy to note that the two are compatible.

This permits you to build a character under one campaign system and then move them to the other over time.

Maybe your gang finally gets their own ship and escapes off world? Maybe your adventuring crew falls out with the law and gets stuck on some backwater world?

Five Parsecs is an adventure that never ends.

* * * * *

Is this a supplement?

No, this is a complete, stand alone game.

You do NOT need a copy of Five Parsecs From Home to play.

What do I need and what do I get?

All you need to play is a handful of scifi adventurer figures and some suitable enemies to get started. Figures need to be based individually. Scale is up to the player.

The PDF is laid out in single column, for the benefit of screen reading, especially in light of the popularity of ipads and android tablets as gaming accessories.

To be print-friendly, all images are grey-scale rather than color.

Does the download include reference sheets?

The site has issues with multiple files disabling the previews, so the reference sheets are included in the main game PDF. Simply print those pages and you are good to go.

Care was taken to ensure that the main weapons and equipment tables fit on single pages, to enable easy printing or in-game reference on a tablet.

If you want to continue the adventure, the game is 100% compatible with Salvage Crew (available here ) and Five Parsecs From Home available here

Your characters can transfer between campaigns, creating a never-ending world of adventure.

Love the game! Quick question: how do you deal with powercreep? As in, how to increment the challenge? simply by adding more enemies? Any guidelines will be very much appreciated. Also, is there any gang/character sheet available? I made my own, but would be cool to see what options there are. Thanks!

Cheers and thank you so much. I could have sworn I had a fan sheet somewhere, but I can't for the life of me find it on my harddrive now.

For challenge, adding an extra enemy if you feel you've gotten too strong usually works fine, but down the road, I'd like to add a "hardcore" mode where you get better rewards but face tougher opposition.

Thanks for the reply! For now I'll add new enemies if I see that it's necessary. I'm actually playing it with two more friends, even if the game is not intented to be played that way it works perfectly fine; we each have our own gang and we fight against three enemy gangs, all simultaneously. A hardcore mode would be awesome, though!

How is manage the AI behaviour? Thanks!

We keep it fairly simple.
Enemies follow one of four methods (Cautious, Aggressive, Psycho or Tactical) which defines how they generally move on the battle field.

That sets 4 or 5 conditions for how the enemy will act.
For example a cautious enemy will always try to keep in cover, will fire from a distance if they can see you or advance through cover to get you in sight.
They won't enter within 12" of your troops and will not attempt to attack in hand to hand combat.

It's still open to player interpretation, I find most players tend to use the "AI" as a starting point and adjust a little to fit their specific situation.

I hope that helps!

I've noticed that melee weapons have a "shot" die listed in the weapons table. How do you resolve melee combat if one of the mini's does not have a melee weapon?
Melee is an opposed role, correct?

Melee is opposed correct.
Figures without a weapon fight with -1 to the Damage roll.

"Shots"are included for melee weapons for compatibility with the 5 Parsecs core rules. That should have been explained more clearly so it's less confusing.

"Melee within 2” or open within 6” 3+"
This is in the reference section. It seems according to the rules melee has to be in contact to happen. I don't see any other references to melee happening within 2 inches.

Contact is correct. It's a holdover from the original version of the rules. I'll fix that ASAP.

Well, I have bought the book, and it looks like very interesting, but I have a doubt.
When you have an encounter, either Enemy or Opportunity, how many troops of your gang will be able to participate? In the assignation section says that no more than two, but I am not sure if in the tabletop battle you will only deploy no more than two, or all the gang.

So, how many?

Cheers and thanks for buying.
You can bring everybody unless they are wounded. I’ll check and make sure the text is clearer on this.

Great man, as you know, I buy all your products.
When will be released a fantasy/medieval version for this kind of campaigns?

Oo, likewise! That sounds like it would be a lot of fun and I'd love to help with a fantasy version.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
