Accelerate and Attack! Aeons of War is a starship combat wargame design for fleet actions from Aotrs Shipyards.

The game places the emphasis on tactical decision making and manoeuvre, while providing a technology system comprehensive enough to allow a wide variety of fleet playstyles but without compromising speed of play.

Accelerate and Attack is a generic, open system that can be used with any miniatures. There is no "official" background here; even the sample fleets included are design so that they can be "plugged in" to your existing backgrounds or genre of choice! Players are encouraged to create or adapt their own fleets.

Accelerate and Attack is suited for games of about twenty of more vessels per side for an evening's gaming.

Features:

  • Innovative Manoeuvre Factor system and Command and control structure that keeps the record-keeping down to ship damage and the game flowing (no orders to write!)
  • Tech level system with up to 20 tech levels
  • Over 30 technologies allows enormous variety and versatility in fleet differentiation even between the same tech level
  • The "buckets o' D20"-based system* allows for granularity in the tech system while preserving the speed and flow of a mass-dice system.
  • Two sample fleets, the alien Vivrathk Aggression and the mysterious Stone Portals, with ship markers and three starter scenarios to get the ball rolling
  • 170 Pages (including main rules (40 pages), Ship design and technology (68 pages), sample fleets and scenarios (32 pages)).

Accelerate and Attack! comes with two PDF versions, one for single-sided (i.e. regular printing) or digital reading and one with mirrored margins for double-sided printing.

*Or "handful-of-D20 plus the average-dice-table" for the less adventurous!

Hi!
The auto-full-size preview (6 / 174) is not very useful!
Is it possible to make a preview (maybe ~ 10-15 p.) that gives a better in-depth look? (TOC, [no introduction - no one cares...], ships, combat, maneuver, systems, weapons, INDEX).
This will promote your sales and nobody buys a pig in a poke.

Thank you!

Thank you for your interest.

I have made inquires, as I do not know whether it is possible to do more than a single range of pages in the preview (there is not an obvious indication that is possible, it appears to just let you specific a start and end page). If it is not, then aside from extending the current preview by a small number of pages, there will be not much I can do (as covering all you say would, well, be more-or-less the entire rules, as you may be able to discern from the contents).

If it is possible to do more than a range, I will see what I can do, though finding a balance between what you would consider useful verses not giving away the majority of the rules in the preview (for obvious reasons) might be difficult (again, I have made inquiries for some advice, this being my first publication). (If possible, the Quck Reference sheet might be one option to include in the preview.)

I will also mention that, in any event, the free Web Enhancement Pack already contains...See more

When not able to do here on WGVault then maybe a link to an extern page/source?
10-15 sites out of 174 aren't the whole book ;-) (a good guideline is 7-10%.)
2-3 pages per issue (connected or discon. pages) will fulfill the needs.

[A physical book from a store or via amazone etc. I can give back. The pdf-thing is to often a pig in the poke. So it is the turn of the seller (your turn) to attract me.]

I have given the matter some careful consideration, along with the technical limitations that I am working with.

I have extended the preview through a few more pages, up to the initative phase. That is as far as I am comfortable setting a single page range, which is all I can do within the limitations. (The main rules are only in the first forty pages, so that's a fair bit already; further 2-3 pages for each topic would be essentially all core rules.) (I tried but was unable to set the quick preview to anything further in.)

Between this and the free web enhancement pack (especially with the QR sheet and the spreadsheet) I would hope that is sufficient to be telling you whether this is the sort of game you may be interested in. Beyond that, I am very happy to answer questions and engage in discussion (via email (through the "contact publisher" option here), via the PM system on Shapeways at the other end of the Shipyards or on the Star Ranger or TMP forums)) - talking about the...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
