Lake Prison

DramaScape Fantasy Volume 84

This Product is a 40 x 40 inch, full color battlemap of a Prison surrounded by water.

The Product comes with Square, Hex and No Overlay and the Virtual Tabletop Map (VTT).

“The lake prison is impregnable. The lake serves as a natural moat keeping ground forces at bay and a prisoner must be able to swim to get away provided they can bypass the portcullis or climb down the tower walls. The drawbridge is only deployed when we get new prisoners or supplies and otherwise completely removed to prevent even a thought of escape. Your special prisoners will get all the special treatment they deserve away from prying eyes here, sire.”—Lake Prison Warden

Lake Prison is a single level exterior map of a lake with an island in the middle. The island has a prison on it with an interior map of two areas, a courtyard and a prison cell room.

Lake Prison is intended for use in fantasy or horror games.

Adventure hook for use with this map:

Rescue of a Friend: A friend of the group has been taken to the Lake Prison possibly upon false charges after he offended the king. Word on the streets is that no one escapes the Lake Prison unless they die. The place is defended by a natural lake that serves as a moat, high stone walls and four towers, a portcullis gate, and prison guards armed with bows (or crossbows). The only time it is easier to access is when the drawbridge is deployed and the portcullis is raised when a new prisoner or supplies arrive. Even this event only makes it slightly easier to break into the prison. From here it is up to the player characters to figure a way into the prison to free their friend and how to escape.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
