Oh, it’s all very well and good to go swaning about the countryside in some great clankin’  smokin’ land ship.  Blimey,  swore General Woolycock,  The enemy ‘ud have to be blind and deaf not to see and hear yah  coming for a hundred miles!

The Fate Armaments Company representative,  Sir Arthur Collywobble,  ducked to avoid losing his top hat as the General waived his swagger stick about with reckless abandon.  “Ah,  I see,”  said Sir Arthur.  “Perhaps something along the lines of a scout vehicle, fast and relatively quiet.  Have you seen our Sand Weasel yet?”

“Sand - what?”  the General poked his little finger into his ear and screwed it about.

“The Sand Weasel, Sir”  the Fate Company  representative inclined his head and pointed down the row of  iron-clad monstrosities and death machines on display that week at the Crystal Palace.   “It’s down at the end of the row;  just past the Swamp Slider.”

General Woolycock squinted as he pulled out a handkerchief and began polishing his glasses.  “Eh, where?”

“It’s on the left flank, Sir,”  spoke Captain Rantallion,  the General’s aid.   It is a Light Armored half-track, with a petrol engine.”

“Quite so. Quite so,”   Sir Arthur launched into his sales pitch as he led the way.  “The Sand Weasel  has two V-8 engines,  allowing speeds upwards of 30 miles per hour over all normally accessible terrain: with a range well over 100 miles which can be extended by running on only one engine at a time.”

“Huff puff, huff puff,”  mumbled General Woolycock as he scuttled around the German Army’s General Swartshammer and his staff, who were admiring a huge steam powered land ship with a six inch main gun.  “Bollocks!  I’m surprised they aren’t taking its measurements.”

”No need,”  Sir Arthur waived a folded paper.   “It is all in the sales brochure.

The General’s sour expression brightened markedly when they rounded the corner of a huge swamp crawler.  Here was a trim little armored vehicle about the size of a furniture mover’s van.    “Ooh,”  said the General, tapping the armored nose of the Sand Weasel. “It looks to be just the ticket for our Martian expeditionary force.”

Sand Weasel kit as constructed

“Of course,” Sir Arthur climbed onto the track fender. “Those pesky Martian warriors with their long barreled muskets will find the  Sand Weasel’s 5 millimeter, face hardened armor most vexing.  Climbing into the fighting compartment, he began to swivel the three pounder quick fire gun around.  “This rapid fire three pounder is good for working over enemy vehicles, fortifications or troops.   Or…” he pointed up and began to elevate the gun, “you can engage balloons or flying units equally well.”  He threw open one of the side ammunition boxes, “There is plenty of ammo available for most engagements.   For protracted battles a second Sand Weasel with gun removed can serve as a tender with extra ammo, water and fuel.”

Sand Weasel kit with cast metal crew

“Splendid!”  General Woolycock clapped his hands with glee.  “We’ll take two dozen for the Martian Expedition.”

Reviresco's Sand Weasel kit measures 3 x 1.4 x 1.8 inches and comes with a 3lb quick fire gun. It is a multi-layered .pdf file so you have your choice of five different paint schemes.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
