Squadron Strike! Rulebook, Deluxe 2nd edition

If you can think of it, you can build it in Squadron Strike! Squadron Strike uses a streamlined, whole-turn-movement variation of the 3D game engine pioneered in Attack Vector: Tactical, and puts it on the most comprehensive ship and weapon design system ever made for space combat games.

  • Your choice of movement modes, from simple, to cinematic, to fully Newtonian
  • Five different types of static defenses
  • A septillion unique weapon systems that you can create with the provided tools

The same tools that are used by Ad Astra Games to print ship system displays (SSDs) are made available to players* - you can make SSDs that look as good as ours, and you can export them as 2D or 3D variants.

If you want a convenient PDF of the rules for your tablet, this is the product for you.

The Deluxe Edition has a full color rulebook.

This product does NOT come with a registration code for downloadable content.

How is this related to Attack Vector? Is it a replacement? Different scale? Just an alternative?

Hi, Pete. Squadron Strike uses the 3D engine from Attack Vector: Tactical and one of the movement types available uses a turn-by-turn variant of AV:T's vector movement system. (AV:T breaks the turn down into 8 segments and you execute them one at a time.)

Squadron Strike is a comprehensive system for pretty much any science fiction setting, ranging from "UFO" movement to "swooOOOOSSHH!" space fighters, to 3D vector movement. You can even mix-and-match.

Building your own ships is what Squadron Strike really does. The range of design choices lets you simulate, well, pretty much any science fiction setting (I feel as though I'm repeating myself ...).

Squadron Strike isn't bound by the attempt at scientific accuracy that underlies Attack Vector: Tactical, so it's very different. It's in no way a replacement.

Agree with Fabio S. The index bears no relation to the actual pages, and there is no Campaign section at all in the PDF despite what the index says. Would not recommend buying until the PDF is fixed.

The new, 2nd edition rulebook is now up and previous purchasers have been upgraded for free. There's no longer a campaign section--a completely new and much larger campaign system is in the works as a stand-alone product. We want it to be compatible with multiple rule systems.

The rulebook is just as large as before, so you're getting plenty of material here.

And the index works. If there are any problems, please report them and we'll push out updated PDFs for free. Ongoing errata is available through the Ad Astra Games forum: (direct link to Squadron Strike Rules Questions & Answers).

Hi! While the game is certainly seems good and enjoyable I am a bit confused... The index page (and the final index) cites wrong page numbers (movement does not begin on page 19, Combat does not begin on page 39, etc.) and include a lot of reference to material that simply is not in the PDF (Campaigns? Economics? Building?) The PDF itself has a strage numbering. It has a "gap" between 133 and 175... Is that correct? What other PDFs should I buy to have the entire rulebook? Thanks!

Sorry about that problem. We made the editorial decision to remove a campaign system that wasn't working and didn't get the table of contents and index updated correctly (incorporating errata had messed up page numbers in other areas). The complimentary upgrade to the 2nd edition rulebook solves this problem.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
