I can't leave a review, because I bought the book from the publisher, but I want to give this 3 stars out of 5 (***°°). The core concept works and is exciting, but the organization is kind of a mess and things are very loosely explained to the point where I had trouble trying to play it. For example, there's the "Parry" skill, which is explained well enough, but there doesn't seem to be a way to actually acquire that skill. Also, you can pretty much infer that attack rolls are on a d20, but I couldn't find anywhere in the book that actually _says_ that. Perhaps I just missed the references, but if I go looking for them and can't find those fundamental explanations, that's still not good.

I was playing "Skirmish: Outbreak", however, so maybe "Skirmish: Ragers" cleans things up. I'm currently waiting on the hardback now, and I hope that it will improve the experience.

For those that enjoy this sort of thing, here's a breakdown of a session I played...See more

Glad someone mentioned the PDF locked on Print as did not see that. Almost made a purchase, and its a nuisance having to remove to print.

Do you have a yellow free version to preview?

Hey Colin, what a bad policy from you! I want to print my pdf for use it, when gaming. No Comment or Information for the customers, that it is not printable. I think you should be more honest to your customers and not trick them! I'm upset about this and will be very careful when looking at radio dishdash-stuff. This is not fair!!!!

How can this be unfair when it clearly states that the PDF is non printable in the top right hand column. I am not sure how it can be more obvious on the page in which you make a decision it clearly states printing is disabled. This is not a bad policy its a policy that is clearly stated. You chose to buy the product, I don't make you and I provide all the information on the page. However as you clearly didn't see this if you contact me on I will happily refund your money.

I don't want my money back. But this was the last product for me, that I bought at radio dishdash. I don't like publisher, who punish honest customers. Sorry.

Hi Dirk, I am really not sure of how much more I can do here, we have tried to be understanding about your predicament. We did everything in our power when we set up the page details to make it clear that the PDF is not printable and I have offered you a complete refund for the product. We are I believe being more than reasonable, as we were under no legal obligation to do that. We have not punished you, you brought the product in error and we offered a refund, why are we the bad guys here. Regardless I wish you well and I hope you can at least get some enjoyment out of what we believe is a great game.

What you can Do is to rethink your handling. This would make it easier. Not all customer sell it illegal, but the honest customer want to print a copy for using it at their gaming table. Punish the black sleeps, not the honest customer. But I think your opinion is straight the other direction to mine.

Please let me know when the atrocious black on yellow has been removed from the rules pages. It seems that too many new/amateur publishers fall into this style over usability trap.

Hi Donald,

Thank you for you for your comment. I am afraid I have to disagree with your view of artistic interpretation. As a graphic designer of 30 years, both web and print, who owns a a thriving design agency and which has won numerous design and usability awards, I can say the design has received many highly favourable comments. From a usability perspective the work conforms to all current usability guidelines in terms of colour and when printed as grey scale the yellow doesn't print. We spend a lot of time and energy creating books that we believe have a good design aesthetic, as always we can not please everyone, that is unfortunate but is the way of the world. While we may be a relatively new company (3 years old) there is definitely nothing amateur about us. We endeavour to create work to the highest quality we are are capable of at that time and aim to improve with every product. Once again thank you for taking the time to comment, we really appreciate it, even if we don't necessarily agree...See more

Sure, from the viewpoint of fitting with the yellow biohazard style of the cover, it *looks* cool.
From the viewpoint of trying to find a rule at-a-glance, no thanks.
I had a good chuckle at the comment about the yellow not printing in grey scale, seeing as how the PDF is not printable. :-) Of course the yellow won't print. Neither will the black.

I was referring to all the free downloads and the free scenario available, see the link above, that are produced in the same style. Everything anyone could need to print off to the play the game is available here. These are printable and yes in grey scale the yellow doesn't print.

Have any previews beside the front and back cover? I'd rather not "judge a book by its covers"....

Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
