To bad there are no expansions or campaign supplements to go along with this game.

WoW a cost ratio of $3.43 per/page for a pdf? Isn't that a bit steep considering I can buy the printed book online for less, I have seen it going for $12.00.

I am a bit confused about traps:
Do PEF traps use the same rules as secret room traps (since that is the only trap entry I found)?
So, do I also get a chance for a treasure with a PEF trap?
And how many dice does a thief get when encountering a trap? The thief's skill claims 3d6 while the rules say that thieves also only get 2d6.

The PEF traps are the same traps. So after you disarm the trap, there is a chance to find treasure. Basically the PEF trap is a trap your group may have initially missed and now your group has discovered it. It would makes sense to use the 3d6 for the thief when disarming traps since that is his specialty.

I just read your review regarding the cost per page. I don't think that's an accurate way to measure a game. You can have a game that is .10 a page and spend 1 hour on it and never play it again. Or you can have a game like 2 Hour Dungeon Crawl which is .30 a page and play it several hours a week for the next month. In that case which game is the better investment?

Thank you for the clarifications.

As for the cost per page, I would like to point out, that I personally gave the game 5 stars, meaning that I consider it a very good investment. However, I feel that fairness mandates that I mention that it is a veritable investment, and if a purchaser finds that the game is not to their liking/matching their expectations, the disappointment is probably even greater. Or in other words, if someone deems their writing to be worth three times the writing of other people, expectations are that they deliver on that implicit promise. And thus, it is an aspect of the game worth noting.

In addition, especially with this title, which I gave 5 stars, thus recommending it strongly, I think it would be irresponsible for me not to mention that it is a rather steep investment. An investment I myself found well worth it, but something I feel I should point out before telling people what a great game it is.

It's becoming the most significant...See more

I just wanted to comment on your review of Warrior Heroes Legends regarding the campaign system. When you play a lot of THW games you start to learn to fill in the blanks and flesh out the encounters with story, but I do know what you mean. I'm starting a small campaign where I'm using WHL for the wilderness, 2 hour Dungeon Crawl for the dungeons, New Market Round for the towns, and Larger than Life for the Quests. LTL provides a system/incentive for characters to explore. Although it's a pulp game, it can be used for any adventure. You should check it out.

Well, if I am offered a campaign system that claims to be suited for solitaire gaming, I would expect it to provide methods for getting things rolling, so to speak, in some direction. WHL and ATH somewhat leave you hanging. A lot of the mechanisms of WHL depend on you moving around, but since there are no specific locations/generators for locations, there is no real reason for you to move; sure, in cities, you can purchase better items - but then again, you already can start with basically any city-available item. Sure, there are different encounter tables depending on your region, but that hardly gives the incentive.

Thus far, my experience with solitaire RPGs has been mostly with Mythic Role Playing and derivative concepts, where you can always turn to the system to get a nudge whenever you don't know what to do next. And that is kind of lacking in WHL.
2HDC works well as it gives you a clear purpose and motivation in-game that also correlates directly to your actions (if...See more

Rajith E, I hope you have tried the excellent Scarlet Heroes as a solo experience; while being a very simple game at it's core (similar to a D&D retroclone), it provides a full ruleset geared towards solo and co-op gaming, with three sets each for urban, wilderness and dungeon based adventures.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
