Greetings Grognards!
As I write up this newsletter the Spring and Summer convention season is in full swing here in the Northern Hemisphere, and I've attended six shows or game days in the last eight weeks. Suffice it to say that the wargaming scene is keeping me busy!
And there's a lot more shows happening before the snow flies. If you get the chance to attend any wargame conventions this year I encourage you to go, you get to spend time amongst your wargame brethern, see creatively laid out boards and play different rule sets you wouldn't otherwise. It's all very inspiring when you get back home to your own tables!
As always we've got lots of new rule sets recently loaded up, and featured here are just a small sampling of them, stop by The Vault and see what's new.
Till next time, good gaming to everyone, and watch your flanks!
~ Steve
Reign in Iron
|
Welcome to Reign in Iron, the stand-alone sequel to Reign in Hell. In this miniatures-agnostic tabletop wargame, you take the role of rampaging demons who have escaped from Hell to conquer Earth, or the artificially intelligent robots trying to defend it. Designed to play solo, co-op, or as an adversarial skirmish game, Reign in Iron is created by Adam Loper and Vincent Venturella for 1-4 players.
From the book: “Barzobel had dreamed of once again reaping the souls of the foolish mortals that occupied this dimension. Now though, looking over the landscape all that could be seen was endless metal and plastic. Artificial creatures occupying an artificial world.”
Use any fantasy or sci-fi miniatures you like in the war for Earth. Enjoy a deep warband creation system that lets you customize your experience. Play through a robust campaign system discovering unique treasures, powerful abilities and gaining control of critical territories that all enhance your group’s capabilities. The game is fast-paced and fun, with a relentless focus on making each game dynamic and memorable.
Note: as a stand-alone sequel, you are not required to have Reign in Hell to play Reign in Iron. This is a completely self-contained game.

The rules use broad troop classes such as Charge, Missile and Fire units, allowing you to adapt a historical or fantastical army easily to the game table.
Based on the original KPS rules, this version adds:
6 Power Sources that your characters can draw upon (Divinity, Leadership, Expertise, Might, Luck, Sorcery)
4 Paths of Magic with 8 spells each.
15 fantasy peoples.
22 monsters to use in scenarios.
26 magical items.
As well as all the features of the original game including campaign guidelines and scenario suggestions. AND new material like battlefield events.
A points system is also included so you can play pick up games straight away.
The game is playable with any single based fantasy figures usually organised in units of 3 or 6 figures. AND while the new book is full of cool fantasy stuff, you can of course still play out historical battles with players having used the rules for everything from vikings to romans to Japanese pike and shot skirmishes.
The rules also include a license to publish your own scenarios and campaigns using EKPS rules.
