Greetings Grognards!

I've been noticing a lot of interest in naval games and seeing reports and photos of naval games being run at clubs and conventions lately, so I guess it's time to feature some ship and boat titles! The game eras featured in this newsletter run from about 100 years ago to the present day, but just do a search and you can find naval games from any time period you like. Not to mention future space combat games, I always have considered those naval games as well. Hey, they call them ships too!

Till next time, good gaming to everyone, and watch your flanks!

AOTF - NAVAL ANNUAL 1907 - 1921

AOTF NAVAL ANNUAL

This volume of the AOTF NAVAL ANNUAL Series provides over 500 pre-formatted, printable ship logs.  It covers the many ship classes of the 1907-1921 period for the navies of Argentina, Austria-Hungary, Brazil, Chile, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, and the United States. The ship logs are divided into sections by country, each preceeded by summary sheets listing basic information for each of the ship classes included for that country.

The AOTF Naval Annual Series is an obvious play on Brassey’s & Jane’s but with actual ship logs for playing AOTF. There will be three volumes in the series: 1885-1906, 1907-1921, and 1922-1944.  Covers will be color-coded similar to Conway’s (blue, green and red respectively) and each volume will be comprised of ship logs for each country (alphabetic by country, then ship type, then completion date) preceded by summary pages for each country.  A single ship log for each class (using the data of a representative ship of the class for the time period) is provided and for ship classes spanning volumes (i.e. all the WW1-era battleships and cruisers like HOOD, CAVOUR, PENNSYLVANIA, etc.), updated versions will appear in the subsequent volume.

The first two volumes are limited to battleships, battlecruisers, armored cruisers and light cruisers but the third volume will also contain individual ship logs for classes of destroyers.

Silent Service

Silent Service

Silent Service is a tactical-level, narrative-style solitaire wargame using a tables-based game engine simulating the US Navy submarine war against Japanese shipping in the Pacific during World War II.

As the captain of a Salmon or Gato class submarine based in Fremantle, Australia during 1942-1945, your ultimate goal is to locate and sink as many enemy Japanese ships as possible, while at the same time bringing your sub and crew safely back to base after each patrol. It won’t be easy due to persistent enemy aircraft and escorts continuously hunting your sub, but the American people are depending on you. Don’t let them down!

The game includes the following components:

- 1 Tables Book Cover Page
