    Sure seems like we've been geting a lot of titles involving ships of one kind or another here lately. Hey, an all ships newsletter... Great idea! Featured here are rule sets from the ancient era, World War II, Modern times and the far distant future (spacecraft are a kind of ship!). 

In addition to these featured titles our publishers have also been loading up .stl files of ships for your 3D printing needs and they cover a wide range of eras as well. Of course this is just a small sampling of recent uploads, there's hundreds more where these came from, just use the filters on the main page and search for exactly what you're looking for.

A quick playing set of rules covering fleet actions in the age of sail where linear tactics were to the fore. The aim of these rules, which draw upon techniques and concepts from LFG’s “Cannon, Cross and Crescent”  combined with a development span covering some 20 years has been to develop a quick play set that focusses on the command and control aspects of the battle, allowing large battles such as Chesapeake Bay, the Saintes and Trafalgar to be played out in an evening’s gaming. Signalling is key, and complex plans may fall apart if a vital signal is missed, or an order executed late. The rules cover the main ship types involved across the period, focussing on ships of the line and rated frigates, in articular in their role as signal repeaters. Stats are also included for civilian ships, smaller warships and bomb vessels, and shore batteries and fortifications, allowing the full spectrum of naval operations to be played. The rules have been written with 1/2400 models in mind but will work with models in larger scales.

Panzerschiff 3rd Edition

Panzerschiff 3rd ed.


Panzerschiff 3rd ed. is an introductory-level tactical WW2 naval wargame for two players.  Famous battleships and battlecruisers from various nations are maneuvered into combat, and fire their guns to sink enemy ships. 

Panzerschiff 3rd ed. comes with rule rooklet (including standard and optional rules), 41 ship counters, ship logs, map grid, and Reference Card.  This 3rd ed. is similar to the 2nd ed., except it contains more ships, and has a new Tournament scenario ideal for club or convention settings.  The game uses a system based on the system used in Avalon Hill's Bismarck (1st ed.), except with additions and refinments.

Warships are rated in a variety of categories:  bow main guns, stern main guns, port & starboard secondary guns, speed, armor, engineering, fire control, vulnerability to plunging fire, and more.  Players can look at a ship counter and its log sheet, and immediately determine its strengths and weaknesses.  For a list of ships included, see below.

The game is compatible with the Panzerschiff Expansion & Cruiser Module set, available separately. (This adds pocket battleships, heavy cruisers, and light cruisers to the system (96 in all), plus includes ships from the USSR and the Netherlands). 

Panzerschiff 3rd ed. is a low complexity rock 'em sock 'em game that will appeal to novices or younger players, as well as to naval game vets who opt for the advanced rules that emphasize fun as well as authenticity.
