WarDice: AEON2 is a new and unique wargame. With a non-standard turn structure and fog of war command system, This game creates a realistic and playable representation of battle. If commanded correctly, troops could move quickly to where they are needed, unless the enemy starts firing at them! Actual tactical operations work in AEON2.  AEON2 also lets you make your own armies from any figures out on the market.  Ask yourself these questions. Should you really know the exact weaponry and strength of the enemy? Should you be able to know the exact rolls he needs to make to be successful when attacking or defending? Should your units do exactly what you want them to do each time? Move to an exact spot? Shoot at the best time? Charge exactly when ordered? React when they are supposed to? Is it too predictable?  For a realistic, but playable set of sci fi rules AEON2 is the rules set you have been looking for.  Please Note: Dice are not included with the game and can be found at www.gobbotown.com

I am interested in Aeon2, but before I spend $65 for rules and dice, I would like to see some detailed game play examples. The one on the GobboTown web page left out a lot of details of unit creation and how the detailed mechanics work. For example, what is the difference of the different color dice for commands and for combat?

Are there any other examples?

Dave (TeknoMerk) and I discuss more detailed questions about AEON2 over at www.gobbotown.com under the forums of AEON2. The forums are brand new and just added to the website.

Hey David R, We have done a lot to fix that. We are in the process of making some videos so you can see the dice in action. We are putting out videos on game play, and updating the site within the forums for those who have questions about any aspect of the game.

Thanks,

$60 for 60 dice and custom dice at that. I had a bit of sticker shock at first. Then I though, I have spent far more for just rules and army books. I have also thousands of dollars in figures that were collecting dust. The value in figures and not playing with my figures made this an easy purchase all the way around to play again. I bought one set, my group split the cost of a second set of dice. GAME ON BROTHERS!!

Really defeats the point of buying a pdf rule set if I have to buy physical dice. I too thought the rules looked interesting until I saw that special dice were needed.

I don't hide the fact that special dice are needed for the game. I think the dice add everything to the game. AEON2 dice show you kills, hard hits, soft hits, hard saves, light saves, miracles and more. There are no charts, nothing to look up. The dice tell the story. I don't want to look at charts in a book when I play a game. These dice give you the whole story right there. I really don't recall the last time we referred to the rulebook during a game. The dice become the rules! I made the pdf available because it is the cheapest way to get a game to the customer. The pdf is there for you to buy at a very cheap price, so you can see if your group is ready for the next step of getting into a really cool game.

59.99$ for dice just to be able to play the game? That is a big jump of faith for an unknown system, that i will not make. Descricption of the rules sounded really interesting. But roughly 60 +10 bucks? Not for me.

Roughly, the dice are some of the cheapest custom dice you can find from an indie. Less than one dollar per dice. Warlord charges $16 for 12 custom dice. As far as getting into a game for less than $75, which game can do that? Some folks buy a $5.00 rule set and are happy with that. This game is not for those people. This game is for those gamers who have an army or two of scifi figs that have been collecting dust for over a year. Hell, some figure packs for 28mm cost $55 for 5 figures! Don't look at the dice cost, look at it as a cost for bringing out all of your old and new figs and having fun with them again. The cost for the rules has been brought down very low as well. $9.99 approximately 100 pages of pure scifi rules/history/army lists. What does GW rules set cost? As I was telling one wargame brother the other day, this game is for a mature gamer, who is sick of the ever-changing fantasy scifi and wants a return to a good set of rules that won't change in 18 months, as well as, the ever changing...See more

$60 is about on par with the average cost of a video game or board game today. If it interests you see if you can get some friends to pitch in. Thats what I do with board games, my friends are really the only people I would play it with anyway.

How many dice will be needed? All three sets? (Command, Attack, Defend)

This particular game takes approximately 60 dice for the game. That is for the whole table mind you. If you are looking for a game to buy with your group, it's pretty easy. (But, the game is a hell of a lot of fun.)

Thanks for reply. In my opinion, though, rules should include conversion tables to permit the use of regular D6 in place of the custom dice. If so many custom dice are needed this would not be a final solution for playing the game, of course, but it just allows to try the ruleset without invest $50+ (plus shipping) in a game that, as good and fun it seem, I could like not.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
