What's better than a Mark Walker WW3 game? A Mark Walker WW4 game, of course! From Mark H. Walker, the designer of Lock 'n Load and World at War, Sticks and Stones is an exciting, accessible war game of WWIV that depicts platoon-level armored combat in 1987.

Sticks & Stones imagines a post-nuclear 1987 unlike anything you've seen before. Seven days after a limited nuclear exchange has irradiated much of Russia and the United States, Soviets roll across the West German border, eager to claim precious fertile ground for the Politburo. American armor stationed at the border rushes forward to meet them, and World War Four begins, fought with much more than sticks and stones.

This platoon-level game comes packed with four scenarios that can be played on a single map. The streamlined, to-the-point design philosophy on which the esteemed Mr. Walker has built his name is in full evidence here, with cinematic action and tight, balanced scenarios that often come down to the nail-biting last die-roll of
the final turn.

The game uses an innovative sequence of play, a card-assisted system that is partially impulse driven, partially turn-based and all fun. Morale plays a decisive role, and easy-to-grasp color-coded factors depict the equipment's capabilities.

Includes:

  • 88 die-cut counters (38 points thick), depicting M901s, M113s, T-72s, T-80s, and Abramseses. :-)
  • 1 super hot, only slightly radioactive, post-nuclear playing map.
  • Easy rules and scenarios, so you can start playing before WWV.

Is it possible to provide the counter sheet as a PNG file? JPG isn't a great format for precise images.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
